work on my truck

I had the guys at melo auto do some work on my Truck today. They replaced the front brakes and installed a new set of tires. The truck drives so much better, it's like night and day. Chris pointed out some other small issues with the truck but didn't try to pressure me into getting that work done but had my best interest in mind suggesting that I keep an eye on it.

Great honest service.

Top Notch hair cut in the Junction

I moved to this neighbourhood about a year ago and last week my barber of 7 years moved away. I didn't have to look far though to find a new barber. I walked into Mr Barber and Dario was able to see me right away. He did a great job nice and quick at a very reasonable price. I won't have any excuses now for my hair being out of control as he's only a couple hundred feet from my house.

Good food

I went here for lunch yesterday, had the burger. Very good, and exceptional for the price. I went today tried the chicken burger, even better than yesterday. Great environment and much better quality than other places in the neighbourhood. It's nice to be able to just get some high quality pub food for lunch. A co-worker was saying that they make their own bread too. Worth trying if you're in the neighbourhood.

Great Experience

It's been years since my old dentist retired and I have been putting off going to the dentist. I finally bit the bullet and checked out Queen Street Dental Centre and met Dr James Sugarman. He took his time to take me through everything in our consultation. The office is brand new and feels very modern, much nicer environment than my old dentist. I would really recommend Queen Street Dental Centre if you're looking for a dentist in toronto.

new restaurant on egg west

So there is a new spot here on the Eglinton West strip. These guys just opened up today so I thought I'd check them out on opening day with some co-workers.

The interior decor is great, very comfortable, the walls are lined with big comfy benches. The food comes in massive helpings and the prices are average. I split an appetizer which turned out to be just way too much food. Once my huge chicken sandwich came I was stuffed. It came with fries and a salad too.

All and all a great addition to the lunch/brunch scene here.

New Grado Stylus

I needed a new grado gold replacement stylus for my turntable. These guys carry all the high end brands. I biked down there on my lunch break and Ed (the owner) was very helpful. He cleaned up the terminals on my old cartridge and demo'd one of the new cambridge integrated amps for me. Great customer service, cant wait to get home tonight and try out my new stylus.

my expensive hobbies

So I have expensive hobbies and beyond that I'm constantly adopting new expensive hobbies. So when it comes to spending my hard earned dollars on my expensive hobbies I choose my spending holes carefully.

So I am obsessed with cycling. I recently bought a new road bike on ebay and needed all the fancy accessories to go with it so I could do some racing, club rides, etc.

I found wheels of bloor here on n49 after getting a little frustrated with the more amateur oriented shops like urbane cyclist or mec.

Wheels is a cycling shop, they're geared (geared.. get it like bike gears) towards the advanced amateur who is either training for the tour de france, or just enjoys riding in the country on weekends.

They stock the tour de france winning Canadian bike brand "Cervello" (ridden by team csc) and are quite dedicated to them. They scoffed at my American made Cannondale, but I could sense that it was in fun.

So I dropped a few...

I wouldn't call Urbane Cyclist a place for "amateur" cyclists. They outfit a different, though equally engaged, portion of Toronto's cyclists.

They do not stock any professional racing bicycles. That leads me to believe that their primary clients are in fact amateurs.

Keep in mind that up until 1986 the Olympics were considered an amateur event.

"Prior to 1952, there was only one kind of athlete allowed in the Olympic Games-- Winter and Summer. Then the Soviet Union and its 14 Communist allies entered the games. All their athletes were fully supported by their governments. None ever held a job. They trained 8 hours a day, 365 days a year. They won most of the gold, silver and bronze during the 1970s and 1980s. None of these athletes were amateur, and yet they were allowed to compete in the Olympics (which made athletes sign pledges that they were amateurs) because the communist athletes were not definable, they were not "pros" like Michael Jordan. It was unfair. So in 1986, the IOC (International Olympic Committee) changed its rule book (Olympic Charter) to allow "all the world's great male and female athletes to participate."'

Lunch at What a Bagel

Erin23 and I were shooting a video at the new Marble Slab creamery in thornhill and afterward I needed to eat some lunch. I was hungry but not for steak something a little lighter. So She suggested the what a bagel.

I had never been to this location but was really impressed there is a large interior eating area, and I say large because the ceilings are high and the windows are huge, It's a beautiful space. Our server was quick and even helped me decide what to order a task most servers roll their eyes at.

We both had sandwiches, I was really happy with mine, it had some egg on it and was really good. The price was reasonable and the service and food were great. What more can I say? thumbs up.
